Stonecutters

The Stonecutters hail from my hometown of Louisville, KY. Their sludgy brand of doom is a style all their own (at least that's how I see it). Their music has a certain sense of urgency and I definitely don't mean that in a bad way. These guys come in strong and they go out strong, pummeling your eardrums and leaving you rocked the fuck out. I can't promote these dudes enough, they work hard at what they do and they NEVER upset. Look for more from these guys since their new album should be done by the end of the year or early next year. By all means, if you like what you hear go support them on their myspace page here.

Also, if you're in the general vicinity of Louisville and you see that they're coming to a town near you, do not hesitate to go because their live show perfects the material on the album even more than it already was done during recording.

Electric Wizard

England's own Electric Wizard are bandied about as the heaviest band in the world. Well, with one listen to any one of their masterfully crafted albums you'll realize that the label is accurate. E.W. are heavy as fuck and once they start, they do not let go of you until the last stoned out riff ends and the cloud of smoke clears (and maybe not even then). Electric Wizard have pioneered and refined their special style of stoner doom (or stoom for us E.W. purists) to near perfection on several, if not all, of their records.

Om

From the ashes of seminal stoner band Sleep came forth two bands, High on Fire was formed by Matt Pike & Om was taken on by Al Cisneros and Chris Haikus. Armed with only bass, drums and vocals Om will take you on a mind-bending journey from start to finish. If you were a fan of Sleep then you surely can't afford not to be a fan of Om.

Church of Misery

Tokyo, Japan's Sabbath-ian doomsters Church of Misery play, well quite obviously, stoner doom that is heavily influenced by Black Sabbath (riffing wise) and a healthy obsession with serial killers. You can read a full biography on the band at their official website, located here.
